This pub is easy to miss, on the corner of Sicilian Avenue with a very understated facade, it doesn’t look like a traditional pub from the outside. Then again, maybe we’d had one too many in The Ship down the road.
Inside the Whippet is small so it fills up quickly, but it’s a clean, open-plan design inside so doesn’t feel too claustrophobic.
They’re all about the craft beers here, and there’s a big and ever-changing selection of cask and keg pints available from the taps which protrude from the brickwork behind the bar. And the staff are almost as excited about beer as we are, and will be more than happy to help you decide.
If you’re after a cheap pint of Fosters you’ll be disappointed, but otherwise you really can’t fault the drink selection. Add to that a friendly atmosphere, nice design and some outside seating for when the weather’s nice, and this place should be a must-visit.
Do they do food? Burgers, pizzas etc.
Are they in the 21st Century? Cards accepted.
Are there dogs? There’s a whippet on the sign, and it seems the real thing would be welcome too.
I want to smoke: Some seating outside.
